 PAST HIGHLIGHTS

January 2006

2006 started off good for Tim and Glyshaw Racing Stables.  Ruby's Prize ran on the 13th in an allowance race.  She finished a strong 4th.  Smokey Buras ran later in the month in an allowance race finishing 5th after a 4 month layoff.  He will be ready for his normal race, a mile or longer, sometime in February and promises to be tough.  Captain Tom captured the 6th race on the 26th with Mathieu Adam aboard.  He paid $17.00 for the win. January was good for another reason, too.  Tim and Natalie were married near New Orleans, Louisiana, on the 14th.

February 2006

On February 21, Mr. James T. Hines, Jr. was found dead from accidental drowning at his home near Owensboro, Kentucky.  Tim is currently training four horses for Mr. Hines.  They will continue to run in The Estate of Mr. James T. Hines, Jr.  Mr. Hines had many nice horses including Ruby Surprise.  Mr. Bob Holthus trained her and Tim was his assistant during her career.  Ruby Surprise won the Humana Distaff at Churchill Downs, and earned almost $800,000. Ruby Suprise is the dam of Ruby's Prize, who in December won an allowance race for Tim.  Rahy's Secret, a stakes winner of over $321,000 was retired at the age of 8.  He was spend the rest of his days at a farm in Louisiana for owner Keith Plaisance.

Above is Darrell H, a 3 year old owned by the Estate of James Hines Jr.  He is a very playful colt who on March 31 worked 5 furlongs in 1:02.40 (second fastest of 13 on the day) at Turfway and is pointing to a maiden special weight race at Keeneland.  He hopes to continue the winning ways of the other Hines horses.

(Below pictures) On the 23rd, Steven O wearing the white and blue silks of the late Mr. Hines stormed home in front paying $56.60 for the win.  He improved dramatically from his last three races and is figuring out how to be a race horse. Captain Tom is gearing up for a strong April by working on March 30th in 0:35.20 for 3 furlongs.  That was the bullet for the day from 12 other workers.

May 2006

Randy's News Flash, after a six month lay-off and one nasty tornado, ran a huge 2nd at Indiana Downs on May 12.  Spring is in full bloom as many of our two years old start to work.  (Below a set of two yr olds gallopping in company on the Polytrack)

With the death of Mr. Jim Hines,Tim was asked to help liquidate the Hines Racing Stable via claims or being sold privately.  Darrell H ran, won and got claimed on September 1.  His stablemate Dick G was also claimed at Ellis.  Glyshaw hated to lose the horses owned by Mr. Hines, but he had to do what he was told by the excutor of Mr. Hines' will.  Other Hines' horses were privately sold or went to various sales.

Fall at Turfway 2006

Glyshaw's stable is still in the growing stage, so this fall he only started 3 horses for the Fall meet at Turfway; winning with one of them.  Sun Spell, a three year old filly owned by Mr. W.J. Chamblin, stormed home under John Jacinto on October 1 in a Maiden race. Here she is working on September 9.

Another Glyshaw trainee, Tahlquah; a three year old gelding owned by Mr. Dash Goff, is still learning the racing game.  Here he is breaking from the gate on Turfway's Polytrack with Mathieu Adam aboard.

Holiday Meet Turfway Park

Glyshaw Racing Stables made 10 starts during the month a December, with a win from Sun Spell and runner - up finishes from Mighty Military and First And Away.

September 2005

The new polytrack surface was to the liking of Rahy's Secret on the night of September 14th.  He came home in front in the 6 furlong race in a time of 1:11, the fourth fastest of the Fall Meet.  Rahy's Secret has raced on the turf course for most of his career, proving the rumor that the new polytrack surface is liked by many turf horses.

August 2005

Ellis Park in August was hot temperature wise as well as being a hot month for trainer Tim Glyshaw.  He sent three horses to post, with all three hitting the board.  On the 6th, Go Cassie Jo finished second by a head.  She came back on the 26th to win.  She was also claimed on that day.  Rahy's Secret ran a hard closing third in a $40,000 claiming event on the 21st.

July 2005

Above Go Cassie Jo prevails in victory on July 14 at The Pea Patch. On the 27th, Keith Plaisance's Rahy's Secret tried to overcome being totally shut-off, but his late running move couldn't make up the ground lost when the horse Are You Down came over on top of him at the 1/2 mile pole.  Calvin Borel lost all chance in the race and had to take hold of Rahy and restart his rally.  Are You Down was disqualified and placed last for his interference.  Rahy will be seeking revenge on the Ellis lawn soon.

June 2005

Everyone at Glyshaw Racing Stables was glad to see the summer coming in and the regrouping of the stable.  After getting a few horses claimed and or sold, the barn is ready for Ellis to start and some fresh faces in the stalls.  Go Cassie Jo made a return after a refreshing break to finish 3rd at Chruchill.

April 2005

Geneva Red, owned by Mr. Dash Goff of Arkansas, finally breaks her maiden after a string of second places.  She does it on April 1st, but there was no fooling her this day.

February 2005

February was another cold, rainy month in Kentucky for trainer Tim Glyshaw.  Geneva Red ran another second, as did Go Cassie Jo.  Before heading to the breeding shed,  Ann's Emblem finished a close third in a starters allowance race capping off her outstanding career.

January 2005

GoCJo.jpg

Snow, rain, cold temperatures and lots of cancellations are quick ways to describe the month of January for the team at Glyshaw Racing Stables.  Above is a picture of Go Cassie Jo, a recent claim for the stable, training on one of the few morning the track was open.  Seyalateralligator won on the 5th was also claimed that night for $8,000.  He was claimed by Glyshaw in July for $5,000.  In the 6 months with Glyshaw, "Gator" won three races and had 2 thirds.

December 2004

On December 1st, Glyshaw Racing Stables added to it's list of horses by claiming a 4 year old colt named Northlander for $6,250.  Just 18 days later, Northlander won a race and was claimed for $8,000.  Glyshaw made a $1,750 profit from the claim plus the winning purse money.  That's how the claiming game is played. We were sad to see him go, but that's part of the business.  Ann's Emblem was enetered to run on December 23, but the races were cancelled because of the foot and a half of snow covering most of northern Kentucky.  Dash Goff's Geneva Red ran a huge race on the 30th, finishing a neck back to the winner.  The track was favoring closers then and hopefully she can break her maiden in her next start.  With a little help from Seyalateralligator, Tim proposed to Natalie on December 29.  There is no date set yet for the happy couple.

November 2004

beuAnn.jpg

Soloman and Glyshaw teamed up for another win at Beulah on the 11th with Ann's Emblem.  She was an easy three length winner on this cold, rainy day.  Glyshaw Racing Stables attempted to add to the stable by claiming a few more horses during the Churchill Downs Fall meet, but were outshook on a number of occasions.

October 2004

Glyshaw Racing Stables made many road trips during October.  Winkle Free was victorious on the 12th at Beulah under Nathan Soloman.  Soloman gave a perfect hand ride as the 4 to 5 favorite.  On the 20th, Seyalateralligator ran in a starter allowance race at Keeneland which drew top horses Song Dancer, Smoke Stack Jack and Jimmy Jones.  Seyalateralligator ran an impressive race and finished a strong third.  Just 8 days later, the $5,000 claim won a $25,000 claiming race at Hoosier Park under Rodney Prescott.  Prescott said the young horse was very nice.

Tim captured his first training victory as Ann's Emblem takes the 6th race on the 12th of September at Turfway Park.  Jockey Calvin Borel guided the mare to an easy victory.  One week later, Calvin and Tim visited the winner's circle with Seyalateralligator.

July 2004

paddockcropann.jpg

Glyshaw Racing Stables had it's first start on July 1st and it's first in the money finish.  Ann's Emblem finished a late running third with jockey John McKee in the irons.

Tim claimed another horse on the 22nd named Seyalateralligator for $5,000 at Ellis Park.  He was a $250,000 yearling purchase from the breeders Flaxman Holdings, Ltd., who have owned the 2002 and 2003 Breeders' Cup Mile Winners.  Seyalateralligator's dam made over $500,000 in Europe and in Southern California before going to the breeding shed.

Ann's Emblem ran second in a photo finish at Ellis Park on the 31st.
